Hey all,
I want to know if ConvertXToDVD can convert my video files, such as avi's to DVD with 5.1 surround sound. I've clicked on my video file on the list in ConvertX and it usually says AC3 2ch. But i'm wondering if there's a way to encode into surround sound, if any.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Short answer is no. If your AVI already has 5.1 AC3, ConvertXtoDVD will preserve it. If you just have 2 channel MP3 then you will get 2 channel AC3 from ConvertXtoDVD. Which is fair enough if you think about it - where is it going to create the other channels from ?
That said, DVD Flick does have an upmix option that attempt to create a 5.1 mix from mono or stereo sources. You could give this a try if you want. However, if your amplifier has Dolby ProLogic II, it will do a much better job of creating a fake surround field than most software upmix techniques.Read my blog here.
