    Hi
    I'm looking at a Toshiba dvd-r unit at Best Buy, it's up convert capable. I've bought 2 : Samsung and rca and they both were quirky and eventually croaked.

    i've had good luck so far with the magnavox units with the internal hard drives. cheapest at walmart. lots of editing functions. i have 3 that get worked very hard & have had no problems after 3 years. look for MDR533, 535, 537 (number denotes hdd capacity. has digital tv tuner but no vcr.
