  1. Hi,

I have been messing around with virtualdub and tmpgenc for a while, but that is on my slower windows pc. I am currently trying to convert from divx to vcd in linux command line land.

I know all about the last stage using vcdimager to create the bin and cue files, but I am having trouble with the actual creation of the MPEG file.

I have been trying ffmpeg and mjpegtools. I thought ffmpeg was my saviour, but I am unable to resize and maintain aspect ratio (basically keep letterbox, and add black borders), also the sound is a little dodgy.

Anyone with any experience doing this kind of thing? Any penguins out there?

    Cheers
    Paul

  2. You should be able to resize with mpeg2enc which comes with the MJPEGTOOLS or if you want to do direct DivX -> (S)vcd conversion you can use avifile with the glue patch by Alexander Oelzant at http://131.130.199.155/~aoe/mystuff/mpeg2_movie-avipatch/mpeg2_movie-avi.html

there is also a nice howto at http://www.pxh.de/fs/svcd/

    good luck!
