It IS possible, it just requires the cooperation and understanding of the audience, as well as the assistance of roadies to manage the line feed. Not something that was shown in the clip. Wireless mics for pit diving, etc were already popular by late 70s/early 80s (I saw Joe King Carrasco doing it with his guitar in '79), but reliable quality ones were not yet available in the late 60s/early 70s (the time period of the event referenced by the clip).

Speaking of the clip, you realize, don't you, that pro moviemakers would have additional tools and methods at their disposal: out-of-sight but near overhead boom mics, hidden/camouflaged wireless lavs or head/hair mics, parabolic reflector mics,and even normal wired mics just edited so that you don't see when they wrangle the cables. Or even a wireless handheld, but with a fake, unanchored cable stub to make it look wired. Most likely they would have multiple options for backup, and for optimal mixing. Pros do tricks like this all the time to enhance the power of the make believe. Remember, this quasi-documentary was done in 2019.
