  1. I have a nice Canon HF200 that has been great for years. I use it for all home video etc. and use the WDTV to play back, no problems.

Recently recorder a 2.5hr kids presentation and lots of parents asked for copies (dvd). I thought no problem, just convert to mpeg2 and author to dvd, simple.

    BOOM.

Strike 1: Took memory card out and found 2.1G file system restriction so I had 8 files to join.
Strike 2: Excellent info here on using TXMuxer but unfortunately ERROR after ERROR parsing files.
Strike 3: try to load into Video Vegas - HEY no firewire on HF200 to use capture
Strike 4: My computer is Windows 7 X64, which means Strike 5,6,7,8 and 9 for Canon util and drivers.
Strike 10: Feeling defeated bought cheap USB capture device to transfer from Camera
Strike 11: Guess what? Windows 7 compatibilty doesn't mean X64 of course.

Ok, OK, time to ask pro's here.

My next "swing" is trying to combine 8 files within Vegas Pro hoping for clean joins.

    Any ideas guys?

  2. This is an AVCHD camcorder apparently so i think you could use videoredo to join em, it depends if the video are stored in a ts/mts or mov container on the memory card.
    Mov container is really problematic

There is a direct usb connection on the camera, look towards the back of the strap -- no need for any additional device. Copy the files to your desktop (or other preferred location) and drag them into vegas. Should be very simple.

You can also make a DVD with canon's software. Check your manual around page 116 to 130

  4. Thank you for the replies.

Yes, I realize the usb is used for transfer but was use to my old panasonic firewire with control.
I did transfer the file(s) from the memory card but as stated due to fat32 I ended up with 8 .mts pieces.

I now am rendering out the 8 files to one complete mpeg2 file with normalization for the sound.

Worried if I will end up with seamless joins. Won't know for another 2hrs. (4hrs already).
    6 hour job with a 1090T 3.2Ghz 8G ram machine.

    Thanks again for the help.

  5. If you just drop the clips one after another into a vegas timeline you will be able to "preview" the joins.

Also possible (I'm not sure about how vegas will play with the structure of your card) that if you copy the whole folder into Vegas it will join the spanned clips automatically.

If you're this far into it though, let it be and check for issues at the end.
