  1. Hi all. Forgive my newbie ignorance please. I TRIED to make heads or tails of the posts/info/instruction here, but I am finding myself lost in the jargon that I am not familiar with.
That said, what I want to do is a (simple?) conversion from my premiere 6 project (avi) to mpeg (I guess) so I can get 20-30 mins of video onto a cd (vcd?) so it will play when inserted in an average computer. Am I barking up the right tree here?
Also, I was wondering about autorun. Where do I find it? Is it free? How does one put that on the cd/vcd as well?
Thanks so much for your help and patience. I can only guess as to how annoying the newbie questions are after a while.[/b]

I'm kind of new to the conversion to VCD also. Just read through the HOW TO AUTHOR, CONVERT, and PLAY to the left. They helped me. I use NERO5.5.7.8 and it converts my .avi files to mpeg1 and writes them to the CD. Then i just toss them in my DVD player and they autorun. Haven't tried in the computer yet, but i think if you have autoplay enabled on CD drive when you put the CD in it will auto start.

  3. Hey,

I gota Max too. Just 2 months old!!

Basically, you need to do 3 steps:
    1) Get the AVI out of Adobe into MPEG1 VCD format.
    2) Author a VCD
    3) Add the autorun stuff

    1) I'm guessing you can output MPEG1 with premiere 6. I don't have
it but I believe that is true. If you can't there is a link under howto convert on frameserving (which means not saving the avi first) to
TMPEGEnc. (btw if you save the avi first, how to convert may be easier)
    2) How to Author should tell you how to create a VCD once you have an
MPEG1 file. I find nero to be easy. What software do you have for
    burning CDs?
    3) http://www.vcdhelp.com/autorun.htm Tells you how to
    make an autoplay cd.

I also searched the web and found various items on exporting Quicktime
from Adobe and making an Autorun cd.

    Hope this helps !
