I have acronis 2011 and just installed in on a win7 pc. It seems that it does not allow backups or cloning of GPT disks (which is what win7 disk management is showing me that I have). Are there any FREE easy to use programs that will allow me to backup and clone GPT disks drives?

I assume that what I'm going to say is useless to you, but it might be useful to others. I have no experience with GPT format disk drives so I don't know of anything specific that can clone them. However, good old "dd" in any live Linux distribution could be used for this purpose of making an exact clone of one drive to another. Usually something simple like this will work:
    dd if=XXX of=YYY
where XXX and YYY are the Linux device paths to the input drive (XXX) and output drive (YYY). You have to VERY careful if trying this because if you switch the names of the input and output drives, you'll copy in the wrong direction and wipe out your source drive.

Perhaps Norton sells a version of Ghost that can do what you want. In the past I've used Ghost to clone Windows drives.
