  1. Greetings all, I am trying to burn a bunch of video files to a DVD to watch on a dvd player. I have decided to use Windows DVD Maker (cause it's free and already on my system). I have everything set up just the way I want it (meus, music, everything) EXCEPT for one thing.

When I click on the "Scenes" button, it just shows the videos in squares. I REALLY want to add titles to each of these so I know which video is what. Is there a way to do this with Windows DVD Maker? If not, is there another program that is as easy as WDvDM that can do everything? I like that it has preset menu options (I'm using the Bandwith one).

Any help would be much appreciated.

  2. Ok, well what I've done, for now, is to add a "caption" in Windows Movie Maker to the first 10 secs of each video titling it. This way, when it plays the previews in the scene selection, you can see the name. However, this also means that when you actually play the video, the name is at the bottom for the first 10 secs. I would still like to be able to add the titles to the scene selection screen though.

    Hi

DVD Maker is EXTREMELY limited in its functionality. You cannot add text elements that aren't already there.

I suggest TMPGEnc Authoring Works, but there are some free tools in the tools section that you may be able to use. I have not used any of the free tools myself, however, so I can't recommend any specific one.

  4. Thanks, that's what I was afraid of.. Oh well, I guess I'll have to stick with my gerry-rig method. It still gets the job done.

You could try the excellent and freeware GUI for dvdauthor, but know up front that it isn't something you fly with after just one session .

I can not speak for GUI for dvdauthor.

If the disk you are making has separate titles rather than chapters within one title, avs2dvd will allow you to put text on the menu screen for each title.

  7. With DVDStyler you may either:

    a) Use a default template with video-frame buttons and manually add the text

    OR

    b) Define one of the text buttons as default (Settings -> Interface -> Default Button) so drag-drop a video on the menu and it'll use the filename for the text button.

I know this is old stuff ,but I think DVD Flick is a good freeware for a DVD authoring beginner.
