    Whats the cheapest and simplest way to get output, home videos from windows movie maker (xp) onto a dvd for distribution to other family members?

    FAVC or DVD Flick. Both are free. Both will create DVD Video compliant folders. Use Imgburn in Build Mode to burn the results to a disc.

    If you are using Window Movie Maker, you might want to choose DV-AVI for a output format instead of WMV, as it's much easier to convert to DVD with the minimal quality loss.
