How to convert streaming video to 1080i?

Here's the situation....I have a bad section on my hard drive on this 1 very important video file. I can play the file and watch the video no prob but when I want to copy it to another location or use premiere and other such editing program to work it...the hard drive crashes. My questions is since I am able to play it is there a program you know of that can record what I play in 1080i and creates a video file?? I've tried a few desktop recorder and they all failed...some are poor quality and some just lags. Any help is appreciated.

Can you play it with VLC? You can try then try use the vlc record function(click the red record button and video is recorded/copied to C:\Users\(Your username)\Videos). But it might crash then also...
