frozen images on the final DVD

Hi,
I have problems with burning video stuff on DVD. There are many frozen parts in the final DVD though the sources material is OK.
I am using Ashampoo burning studio but the same happened with other software too. Any idea?

If the VIDEO-TS folder was copied from another DVD, and not created by Ashampoo from low-quality downloaded sources, then you are probably looking at only two problems.
1) Buy better quality DVD blanks(Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden).
2) Use ImgBurn to burn the VIDEO-TS folder to the blank DVD.

Tried with imgburn but the issue persists. Stil I notice that the error appears only when I playback the DVD through my player. When I playback the DVD through the PC it works just fine.

Did you read what hech54 wrote as problem 1? What brand of DVD blank discs are you using?

There may be a couple of other possible problems:
A copy of PAL DVD being played back on an NTSC player, or just an older DVD player that doesn't handle burnt discs very well. Still, it's more likely to be crappy blank media than anything else.

The DVD player is a Sony RDR - HX750 with hard disk. I didn't have any problem with original DVD or its own registered DVDs. I'll try with Verbatim (we don't have Taiyo Yuden in my country) and keep in touch as soon as possible.

But your problem is the classic stuttering or freezing usually towards the edge of the DVD so if its a film they start skipping/freezing towards the last 30 minutes or so

Poor quality control or 'discount' branded discs as the DVD is read from the inner to the outer edge of the disc, so apart from its having less time to read the information teh dye needs to have full coverage over the entire DVD which the cheaper brands don't have, hence stuttering or freezing


Also, what speed are you burning at. Most software tends to assume you want to burn the discs as fast as the DVD writer will allow and some DVD players just don't like these high burn speeds. Try reducing your burn rate via IMGBurn to x8 or even x4


And the burning software you use CAN and DOES make a difference. IMGBurn is possibly (in my opinion) the most compatable burning software there is, and its FREE. Unlike some software it won't make assumptions on what it thinks is best for you but just does what its good at and burns the disc with compatability and burn quality as a priority

I proved this and haven't used the software since as I had major issues with DVDs badly skipping and so bad as to be unwatchable never mind unplayable right from the first 5 minutes. They would play in one standalong player but not the other we had. So I had tried what was then DVD Decrypter (now IMGBurn same author just no decryption and an even better burning engine) and every single disc I reburnt played faultlessly in both standalone players

I used same discs from the spindle, same brand, same burn speed and exactly the same source. The ONLY difference was the burning software. Which proved that DVD burning is NOT the same, and so have now used nothing but IMGBurn for video and CDDA Extractor for my audio discs and have zero issues unless I screw up and thats usually when I get and burns

I burn no faster than x8, and WILL NOT touch 'discount/cheap' media which a lot of shops sell with the excuse 'they are very popular'. Spend that bit extra and you then won't end up paying twice and spending twice as much time doing it all again
