I need to divide a large MKV file into four sections. Avidemux kicks out audio sync by 28 seconds. SolveigMM AVI Trimmer + MKV produces perfect sync when played in VLC but the audio is not stable when played in my Samsung TV USB port. It sounds like a 59 fps audio spliced onto 25 fps video. Any ideas gratefully received.

Could the TV play the original video without problems?
Typically TV's don't make good players - they are very limited in what they can play -
You can try splitting with mkvtoolnix (split by timecodes, no video preview, not frame accurate - only closest keyframe) . Make sure header compression removal is disabled in the options (devices , TV's frequently have problems with this option)
