    Hello Video Help Veterans!

I recently built my parents a new computer. They need a way to watch Blue ray movies so I hit the web to look for a good media player. There was Corel Windvd / Powerdvd / and Total media Theatre are the major ones I found. I brought over my copy of Avatar on blue ray downloaded the free trials .. Power DVD and WinDVD would only play the sound but you could not see any video. Tiotal Media Theatre was the only one that would play the video no problems- but I see that DVDFaB has a player too.

Soon they are going to be editing our home movies from dvd's that we copied the 8mm film onto and they also just bought a sony HD camcorder. Is there one of these programs that can do an all in one type play video edit and author? The reason I am asking is because for the last week i've been bangin my head trying to find them the best program to use without having to download 20 programs. And if they are familiar with one it will make it easier to use th other.

Also if anyone has used DVD Fab is it pretty good too? Right now im leaning towards Total Media Theatre since it was the only one that would play Avatar. But it is kinda pricey.

Thanks for your help guys/ and gals.

If you want to buy a BluRay software player, I would recommend Total Media Theater over WinDVD and PowerDVD. I use TMT. I have never used DVDFab to play movies so I cannot comment on that. PowerDVD and WinDVD are fairly notorious for taking away functionality with almost every new release being able to do less than the one before it. Arcsoft does not play those kinds of games with TMT.

I can't really recommend an editor for your parents needs. Someone else can do that. I just wanted to advise you against considering PowerDVD and WinDVD.
