Hi there,
I wanted to connect my JVC GR-D850U camera to PC by firewire. I bought IEEE 1394 card but it did not help. I used to have a laptop which I connected to the camera and everything was working charm. Unfortunately the laptop does not function any more. How can I connect videocam to PC?

firewire works fine in win7 64bit. if the firewire card installed properly it should be listed in device manager. if it's there and listed as working properly try using the free program winDV to connect to the cam. install winDV, set it to run as administrator. turn on the cam in play mode. plug in the firewire cable. wait a minute for the computer to find the cam. now run winDV. as long as the firewire port and cable are ok it should work.

Don't forget, if a recent install of Win7 64, it installs a new firewire driver but also keeps the old legacy driver available. I sure would try the legacy driver and see if that works after you have tried Aedipuss's method. I had to do that on my laptop with a new win7 64 install.
