Help with Sony Slav-d350p convert vcr to dvd

I am a new to this

I have have combo player, Sony SLV-D350P. I wold like to copy all my family vcr to DVDs. I know a fair bit a bout computer, but not to much on how to set up a recording to the computer.

Any comments or suggestions?

You need capture device. I use this one:
http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_usblive2.html
DVD is MPEG2 video and can be NOTHING ELSE.

I do have a capture device but it is still not tranfering data.

It's not going to "transfer data", you are going to record, in real-time.
