  1. Thank you for all the guides etc i wouldnt have got this far without them
its taken about 2 days but now i can make a VCD movie(backup) from a
DVD I am currently working on SVCD

I had no luck with DVD2SVCD proggys and dup-dvd was poor quality
(also it refused to burn second disc)

i followed a couple of the guides and downloaded the various programs
    needed

The only problem i have had is a sound sync problem all seemd fine on
pc as a mp3 (hard to judge as a image file mounted on a phantom drive)

the sound sync problem is accross all the dvds i have tried to back up
Finaly corrected by adding -470 in the audio gap in tmpgenc
but this does not relate when you make a svcd so more tests required

i also tried various authoring proggys and burning methods (and diff burn programs) all the same

so i have come to the conclusion that the problem lies in the stand alone dvd player (although orig dvds are fine) anyone got any thoughts on this?

anyway thanks to all who have contributed to the guides etc

I was going to start a thread myself thanking everyone for the fantastic website/tutorials/downloads. As a complete newbie all it took was a few hours of my time and I was creating VCD's and now SVCD's. The tutorials are well written and clear to understand. Thank you everyone who has contributed their time to help others.

Jez, have you tried your CD's in another DVD player? I discovered that sometimes a SVCD works in mine but not my sister-in-laws machine and vice versa plus sometimes it wont work in my computer but fine in the standalone and vice versa. Just a thought.

  3. No i have'nt not got access to another stand alone yet

atm alls fine i just add 57ms in the TPMGEnc settings and svcd's
are perfect i suspect if i try another it will have a gap i do heavily suspect
that it is my particular standalone dvd
still would like to know if anyone else has had this
