my cam saves in.mov format but TSmuxer when I combine the video and audio(TSMuxer can't recognize the audio so I convert it in audacity) the first couple of seconds of footage are slightly garbled. It was my understanding that TSMuxer does not convert the video in any way so how can this be?

  2. Do you mean video garbled or audio garbled ?

Most likely a decoder issue. What player/decoder are you using ? Try another e.g. mpchc, smplayer, vlc

(x264 is a software encoder, so probably you really mean h.264 in mov recorded by your camera)

  4. Even with the other players ? What have you tried so far ?

Why are you using tsmuxer ? Why not another container like mkv, mp4 ? - the overhead is much smaller. On average the filesize might will be 4-7% smaller

    VLC
I want .m2ts because I frequently burn to blu ray and there is supposed to be no loss in quality.
I will try converting to mkv and see if that helps. I can't find a page on this site that tells how to convert from .mov to .mkv without loss of quality.

  6. Did you try another player? Certain versions of VLC are known to have playback problems

What does mediainfo (view=>text) say about the source mov ?

Many cameras that shoot h.264/mov shoot non compliant video for blu-ray (e.g. Canon DSLR's) . The bitrate is too high. They need to be re-encoded anyways

Media info says that the video is 33.4Mbps and the audio is 1536 Kbps

mkvtoolnix , but this won't help you for blu-ray unless your blu-ray player is a model that supports mkv

Can you use view=>text, copy & paste the text view back here

What model is the camera ?

Did you try another software player? (just for testing purposes, it might be that VLC is giving you incorrect preview)

Does playing the original MOV have any issues ?

Once the audio was converted to AC3 I never had a problem playing it back on my PS3

  10. Bitrate is ok but some players might give you playback problems (baseline@L5.0 isn't compatible) . It's player dependent. PS3 can often play streams that are out of spec

Are the playback problems on the blu-ray player, or PS3, or VLC ?

You might try tsremux instead of tsmuxer
