Hello,
I'm looking to purchase a second computer which will be used for encoding DivX avi movies and then burning them on DVD-r's. I also want to copy dvd movies onto blank dvd's. My question is which brand makes a reliable DVD-R burner? Thank you for your time and effort.

Pioneer is the best.
Make sure you use good quality media such as from apple or verbatim for the least troubles.

I agree, the Pioneer A04, and Apple Media is probally the best value for your money since it burns at 2x and I have had good success rates with it over generics and other cheaper media.
