Hello all, newguy here. The reason i joined this forum is because i am suddenly having trouble not being able to play a DVD I burned. It is a whole live concert from YouTube, (Metal Masters 4-2012 Gramercy Theatre-NYC) It is 1hr 57min 1.1GB long. I did not think there would be any problem, but after converting the show and burning it the resultant DVD will not play, not on my PC, or on my Marantz DVD player. The Mpeg file WILL play fine in my media player, but the burn will not. I re-burned a second copy, but it would not play either. So i downloaded a free burning program and burnt another disk and that also does nothing. I right clicked and found the requisite Video_TS file... so i am baffled!! Could this show be copyrighted? Maybe it will let me watch but not burn? All i get is a dark grey screen. Normally i download short length individual songs people shot at a concert and up-loaded to YouTube to make my own concert DVD. In frustration I deleted all the files and am in the process of re-downloading the file again as a MP4 720p HD to my HDD. I will be converting this file with MediaCoder, and burning it with my "audiophile" program Jrivers MediaCenter. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!! thx

Yes i have been trying to get back on this site for over an hour now!!!!!!!!
I have created a new user registration just to get here!!!!!!

NOW:Ok, i installed AVStoDVD, ran it as its set out of the box, and it wants to convert to PAL. Why is this? I am in the USA? I cannot figure out how to change this. I found under: Preference > AviSyth preferences > check the boxf or Pal SpeedUp for NSTC-film to PAL. Will this reallychange the format to NSTC? This MUST play on my home DVD player!!! I only want to convert an MP4 to Mpeg2, NSTC. And, like MediaCoder there is a LOT of settings to choose from. Very confusing, i would need a few weeks of fiddling to get this program dialed in. I have wasted hours and days already with the programs i have now. Are there a listing of "presets" that i can load, with the instructions how to do this? The help pages only seem to fix things that dont work. I need a simple, high quality program, that works the first time, has excellent audio/video sync, and high quality video and audio, not a complex program with a steep learning curve. I already have that in MediaCoder. I dont want to be bogged down again. thanks

PS:you can delete my old profile
PSS: please send replies to my new registration email

Yes, by default, AVStoDVD comes configured for PAL-format DVDs. To change that to NTSC, go to the Preferences, click on the Video tab, and look for the "DVD Video Standard" dropdown; change that from "PAL" to "NTSC".

Edit: Oops, forgot. Also, if you have any issues with or questions about AVStoDVD, the author regularly posts to VideoHelp, and there's a dedicated support thread: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/277852-AVStoDVD-Support-Thread

ok, that works, but i tried 2x to convert my file and i get a program dialog box HCenc, which immediately stops responding. I had to kill the process via my Task manager, it locked up my PC. I have included a screen shot of what happened. In the "help" area it told me i should see:

By pressing OK, encoding process will start. The advance status may be monitored by the
    Progress Status Window.

On the bottom there are a progress bar and 2 text boxes to indicate current and max output DVD size (MB). A ToolTip on the current output DVD size indicates MBs dedicated to DVD Menu, to Titles and to Extras (authoring files).

I only had the HCenc box, nothing else
Thanks for quick responses, that helps!!

Well, lets kill this thread, the video must be corrupted. 3 different conversion programs and 2 burning programs failed to make this work. I downloaded 3 individual YouTube clips of different performance segments (separate songs) of the same show and am trying to convert and burn them let me see what happens, thx

Wow, that worked very well!! I will be deleting all the software i have used, except yours. I think it is a program that will work with not to much effort, once the basic perimeters are set, thanks!
