Im trying to play the m2ts file on VLC with subtitles and it wont play. The subs are renamed like the m2ts file and are located on the same folder. Its strange that without the subs the m2ts file will play. So what do you think should i convert it to mkv or avi or is there another way round this? If i must convert, what app do you suggest for the mac?

You could probably mux the m2ts and subs to a mkv with mkvtoolnix.
But be sure to search the vlc forum for similar problems first, http://forum.videolan.org/ .
