  1. Hi,

I try to keep it short.
I set up a new system with Windows 7 64-bit. Since then, I have the following problem.
When I record something with my microphone in Sony Vegas Pro or Audacity, the record is slightly longer than the video material, which I'm commentating. Hence it gets asynchron and the longer the record takes, the bigger the asynchronicity gets.

I already posted that issue in a SVP forum (because I thought in the beginning it is an issue with SVP) and I got the response that this is an common issue, but they were only able to help me with a bad workaround which does not really help.

I am not sure how to describe that problem in some keywords to search with google or within this forum. So I apologize if this issue is already solved. Additionally, I hope this is the correct subforum for that kind of issue.

    Thanks in advance,
    TaZz

  2. what are your computer specs, and how are you recording video (what software or hardware)?

What are you recording (what video source) ?

  3. I'm doing records with a HDPVR of my PlayStation 3. I got two ways to deal with the material.
    a) Live-Commentary:
I record the audio while I'm also playing and recording with the HDPVR.

    b) Post-Commentary (strange term, I just invented... )
I take the material of the HDPVR (m2ts format), import it in SVP and try to commentate it afterwards.

My described issue in the opening post occurs with both ways. Hence I assumed it is an issue with the audio recording, but it could also be a problem with the HDPVR recording itself as I just noticed.

    My specs:
I have an Macbook Pro (Mid 2009) and I boot Windows 7 native with bootcamp.
4gb RAM, 2,53ghz dual core. Anything else?

  4. (b) shouldn't be affected if you add audio comments after

What resolution /specs are you recording?

It might be a insufficient hardware playback problem - an dual core would barely meet minimum requirements for playback of 1080i59.94 material , certainly native editing in vegas would be laggy of AVCHD material

  5. (a) and (b) do not differ that much. The audio recording always takes place with my PC. The difference is that I see the material on my television (a) or on the computer (b). But still I think it is unlikely to be a problem with the HDPVR record, since one guy in the SVP forum (I only got one response) said this is a known issue and it is very unlikely that he encounters HDPVR users that often.

I have to add that it worked fine with Windows XP. Also, I assume it will be fine if I do a) while being in MacOS. Atleast it was this way, before I set up Windows 7 and it should not be affected by that.

  6. (a) would be affected, because there is a slight latency lag when recording HDPVR (it's not realtime feedback) . So there is a disconnect between what you say into the mic, and the events that are captured . Search for "HDPVR lag" and you will see this is common and known issue

    (b) shouldn't be affected, because you're overlaying audio afterwards

If it worked fine on XP
Well that is weird, you can try xp mode on win7 if you have the pro version

    (a) yeahr, but the latency lag should be constant and should not get bigger over time?

I have Windows 7 Professional. I will test it out. Since I'm new to Windows 7, i never heard of this mode.

Btw you are the same guy who helped me out with my first thread/issue in this forum... (the wink smiley looks so unsatisfied...)

In theory, yes, but in practice - sync drift occurs whenever recording live audio

There are slight differences in the sample clocks in equipment - if you're recording video from one and audio from another set of equipment they need to be locked to the same sync signal
