Thanks to everyone who helped in my other post.
Lot to learn with this stuff.
Ok, I was able to take a DivX file w/mp3 audio and convert the audio to uncompressed and have a new .avi file.
Then, I used the bitrate calculator and TMPGEnc and selected an end point half way through the movie and converted that to an SVCD piece that would fit on one CD.
I waited about 7 hours and had my .mpg file which is half the movie.
I burned that to CD using Nero and seletcing Super VCD.
Plays great in my DVD player EXCEPT the time remaining doesn't work. The time elapsed works, but the time remaing just shows all zeros. Since that's not working, it looks like the function of my DVD player to skip to any particular time in the movie also doesn't work. Obviously, that's a big problem.
Is this all because I split the movie? Did I do anything wrong? How can I burn it so that my DVD player knows the time remaining properly? Any other way to burn it so that I can be able to skip to parts in the movie without having to fast forward for 10 minutes?
Thanks!
Lex

I donīt think alot of DVD players support that function in SVCD, but you could always try to make real chapters.

You can just make (S)VCD with chapters.
Go - http://www.vcdhelp.com/burnmpg.htm
and look through "How to make VCD or SVCD with Menus, Chapters and Entrypoints" -

I had the same problem, but worse. Firstly, My dvd player [pioneer 440] does not display the time elapsed/remaining. I wish it did! I know it can b/c I tried another svcd my friend made for me and it had a time lapse display. All mine says is "PCB Play". Is there a way to get it to display the time lapse/remaining? Perhaps a control on the remote to allow this?
Secondly, my other problem is fast forwarding the svcd, since my dvd player only support 2X FF, it takes me a while to reach the end of a movie if i just want to skip all the way to the end. Does anyone know a way to fast forward to a certain point faster w/out using chapters? Thanks for all the help, if any.
