  1. Hello.
I wanted to ask something in case anyone knows.
I have a DVD that has subtitles which appear in a grey box all over the movie.
Is there any option in PgcEdit, with which i can remove the box?

(for example I used Pgcedit sometimes to change the color of subtitles, so i wondered if you could also remove the box somehow)

  2. No, but you may be able to do it using DVDSubtitleEdit, if the box is a non-transparent background color. In a series of posts one fellow asked how to create one (subs inside a black rectangular box). You just have to undo one:

If it's the way I'm thinking, you want to make the background color transparent again.

I think the transparency of the background needs to be changed as well. pgcedit can change the colors in the palette but not their transparency. The transparency is controlled by the subpicture stream. See this post for more information on how the color mapping and transparency work https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/335583-Muxman-changes-color-of-SUP?p=2083937&viewfu...=1#post2083937

SupViewer is another program that allows changing the transparency of the background color in a .SUP file.

  4. Hi again.
    Well, DVDSubtitleEdit does the trick.
I can change the transparency and all but I have a problem.
after i pressed "save all modifications", I can't play the film!

I press play the film from the menu in my player, but it goes to the extras menu.
I go to the scene selection, in case I could play the film from there, but again when i press a scene, it goes to the extras menu.
    What happened?
fortunately i used a copy of the film.

maybe I have to used ifoedit or ifoupdate?
    but i don't know how..

  5. Did you test before burning to disc? Test using a software player?

Making the change permanent is a two-step process. First you go Edit->Apply Last Modifications To All->Apply Changes to Transparency, followed by DO IT!. Then you go File->Save All Modifications. I've used DVDSubEdit a lot over the years and have never gotten a screwed up menu out of it.

  6. I didn't burn to disc.
I tested using a software player and can't play the movie..

i think there's somthing to do with the ifo.
Because i didn't change anything in the ifo.
and when you play the movie, it needs the ifo that has all the information about subtitles and such.
And since the ifo has the information for the original boxed subtitles, and i changed the subtitles in the vobs, maybe there is the problem and can't play the movie. (can't recognise it).

While I can play the extras without any problem..

Could you have accidentally changed something in the copy of your DVD before using DVDSubEdit to modify the subtitles? If that is a possibility, and your original is still working correctly, you could delete the bad copy, make a new copy from your original file and try again with DVDSubEdit.

  8. No, i haven't.
Yes, i have still the original, and I made a 2nd attempt, but the same problem occured...

Edit: Well it seems my problem was solved.
    it was like this:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/322913-problem-with-dvdsubedit?p=1999753

Now, that i tried to play the movie, with DVDsubedit closed, it plays fine!!
I didn't know that it would be such a simple solution.
Thanks to everybody that tried to help.
