  1. I have this avi:

that was encoded at crf22, from a 60fps fraps recording.
https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en says 60fps 1080(i) needs to be deinterlaced & converted to 30fps progressive.
I have no sweet clue if it's interlaced or not.

In this past I'd just used ripbot to mux an audio-less video file with the audio I wanted.
It'd just slap the two together, and that'd be that.

Now, when I add a new job, it looks like this:

The avi is 5:34 long, but is now showing up as 25 fps/13:22.24 long by default, and when I change that by selecting 29.97 fps in the output speed dropdown

It skews the playback time to 11.x minutes.
If I choose 59.94 fps, that is, as close as possible to the original fps as I can get, it puts the video at 5:34, but ******* cuts the audio duration down to 2:19 inexplicably.

At this point I'd really like to just either
    a) take 60fps avi and mux it with the audio track, without changing any of the goddamn settings
    or
    b) take 60fps avi and convert to 30fps, decimating by 2 - or whatever else needs to be done, without changing the length.

I don't understand in the slightest why the audio length would change, when it's not tied to fps at all. It's completely beyond me why 60fps source would then default to 25fps in ripbot, with decimation greyed out, and deinterlacing only showing 25/50 fps options, no 30/60.

atm, I'm trying to decimate it by 2 in vdub, but since there's no preview indication of duration like ripbot has, I have nfc if I even did it properly, and it won't be done for another 3h. Please advise, this is driving me crazy.

Fraps not encode interlaced, only progressive.

Just open your file in Virtualdub, click in Video tab, Frame Rate, convert to 30.000 (screenshot below)

Select Direct Stream Copy for Audio + Video and save new AVi.

Its no necessary to youtube because YT will reencode any upload video change to "correct settings".

  3. The convert to 30fps worked this time, but it decimated it funny. The video's like 2 fps, and it warps all over the place. It's like watching a slideshow.

The direct stream copy option worked fine for leaving it at 60 + adding the sound though, thanks.
