    Hi,

I need some advice for my little DV/AVCHD project on editing in CS6. I do the following steps.

    1. add footages in the timeline with black video at beginning and end
    2. cut my footages in the timeline
    3. add video transitions and video effects (cropping) as necessary at the cuts
    4. add background music
    5. add 1 adjustment layer over my whole footage with a noise reduction filter...or should this be done per cut footage/scene?
    6. add another adjustment layer for color correction with the fast color corrector over the whole footage. Or should this be done per cut footage?
    7. export my timeline to AVI or H264 as the master
    8. export my timeline to DVD or Bluray

Is this the right approach of steps? thanks for your help.

5 - i would not do. only use adjustments on source material that needs it, not the entire project.

see your other post for more.

try not to make such similar multiple posts.

Nor would I do #6 unless it really warranted it, and even then only on a segment by segment basis. Unless you were talking about color grading - but I don' think you are ready for that yet.

#7 - You should be saving a "Master quality" master. That rarely would include h.264, and AVI isn't specific enough to know clearly what your intended codec is...

If your sources are both DV and AVCHD, which rez is your project? SD or HD? That can help determine what your master format should be, though Lossless or Visually-Lossless is usually the best way to go.

Otherwise, you are on the right track.

To make a list like that it sounds simple, but few are any good at it. All terms are loose and relative though, when you get good at it. The rules don't always apply.

In fact, doing things differently is the hallmark of a great video. Nobody's interested in "Swinging Barn Door" or "Page Curl" Transitions though. That's for sure. Better bring some bling.

Attention span is 3 seconds now.

The best stuff I've ever done is overdramatized, but still real. In other words, no over-acting or strict structure. Mix it up. Don't stick with the same "schtik". It gets old quick.

So now you have the answer to three different perspectives.

The path of the true butterfly is through the Sony Vegas Pro path. Only there will you have learned.
