  1. Hi Folks-
Need the opinions from the pros from Dover.

I have an M4V file that plays perfectly on my computer.
When I convert it to DVD files and try to burn a DVD with Nero, Freemakers, etc AND
when I convert it to an image file and try to burn a DVD with IMGburn the resulting video in both cases "pixelates" every few seconds.

Any clue to what I might try to correct the problem?

    Thanks!

IMGBURN doesn't necessarily need an image file, it's perfectly happy to burn the DVD video_ts folder
    as-is.

Try playing the video_ts from the harddrive and see if the symptoms appears. Secondly, play the DVD in the computer.
If the problem only appears in a standalone player connected to the TV, you may have a media problem,
    try reducing the burn speed.

  3. Wow. With blazing speed the Videohelp pros are on the case.
    Thanks Dave
I'll try burning the DVD files directly with IMGburn.
The DVD files on the computer work fine.
The DVD burned has the same problems in the computer as it does in the standalone. I don't know what that tells you.
    Conversion problem?

    Thanks again Dave

If the DVD on the HDD played back fine,
the conversion sounds as if it's OK. Put the media in the drive,
and since you have Nero, run a "Disk Quality" check using their utility Nero CD-DVD Speed.
A burn on marginal media will usually get a poor score.

In general, try burning with Imgburn and set the speed at about 1./2 the rated speed.
    (I use 8x with 16x media)

When you did the burn, did you do the automatic verify? The opinions on the verify are somewhat mixed,
but in my mind at least it tells us that the disk could be read successfully at that time in that drive.

  5. Didnt do the disc quality verification and automatic verify but will do it in the future.
I will also try burning at half speed too to see if it gives better results

Can't thank you enough for taking the time to help a bloke out Dave.

The best to you in your many ventures
