When you buy blank CDs they often sell blanks supposedly more suitable for audio and they cost more $
Can one assume these are simply better quality and therefore would be better for making SVCDs et al ??
Any advice on what would be the best blanks to use is also appreciated. My DVD player plays almost anything I put in it but I have noticed pre-recorded commercial VCDs look better than the ones I make.

Music CD-R's cost more than data CD-R's because of royalties CD-R manufacturers have to pay to the record companies, not because they are better quality. The only difference between the two is a code/key/header or some such thing that tells your CD burner software whether the CD-R you are using is a music CD or a data CD. Some burner software will not let you copy tracks from a commercial CD to a data CD-R, only to a music CD-R.
