i used to upload at vimeo. there, if i made the vids 640x 480 (along w/ the bg image) there would be none of that dead space on either side.

now i'm at youtube and that no worky.

i read something about 960x480 but even WLMM has dead space at the top and bottom when it makes them (either normal or widescreen) at that.

    any ideas?

You Tube is now 16x9 so if your aspect ratio isn't 16x9 then there will be black on the sides or the top and bottom (depending on your aspect ratio). This is the same as to how a HDTV works. I don't see it being a big deal.

yeah, i'm doing one right now that's 16:9 and the bg image is 960x480, but like i said, WLMM makes it with dead space on the top and bottom.

so, question is... what size should the vid and bg image be?

I don't use WLMM so I have no idea, sorry, but if the video is 16x9 then there should be no dead space unless the actual ratio is different within the parameters of the 16x9 space. Sort of like how a movie with a ratio of 2.35:1 will still have black above and below the image on a 16x9 HDTV.

You don't see a contradiction there? 16:9=1.78:1, yet 960:480=2.00:1. It's one or the other, but not both. If it's really supposed to be 16:9, then make it 852x480 or some such.

Get the aspect ratio right and don't worry if there's black on the sides or top/bottom.

    Hi FulciLives! Long time.
