I'm trying to run BDrebuilder to shrink BD50 to BD25, So I'm looking at the nvidia 520 fermi and the radeon 6670, Which video is card is better for this task?

Neither since it doesnt use the video card for encoding.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
Thanks johns0, I misunderstood what I was searching because I thought the video card was a big part of encoding and recoding, Anyhow my video card is an old geforce 8000 so I thought it was time to upgrade, And for the price I was just wondering which card is better between nvidia 520 fermi and the radeon 6670.

With the right software and the right video card you can offload video encoding to the GPU of the video card. However, BDRrebuilder does not use this technology and if you do the research you'll find that the quality suffers if you let the GPU do this. Right now the technology is only for the "I don't care if it sucks, it's got be FAST" nimrods.
I am not personally familiar with those cards so others will have to comment on which is better. Unless you are a gamer you probably have no reason to upgrade your video card to either choice. -

Thanks guys, I do have an AMD quad core, But for $25 to $30 dollars I thought I would upgrade the video card, The only reason being is I'm trying to fiqure out why x264 has stopped working keeps popping up when I'm using BDrebuilder.

Thanks jagabo, I always had luck with nvidia cards too, But according to newegg's site the radeon 6670 had excellent reviews, But I did order the Jaton 520 femni for $25 after rebate, which had good reviews also.

Maybe I am wrong but I do not agree with this.
Maybe BDRB does not use your vid card for encoding but what about the "encoders" BDRB uses ?
I am running 2 EVGA GTX560 vid cards in SLI and when I use BDRB I clearly see my vid cards GPU heat and fan speed increase.
And when I temporarily took out one of my vid cards to test another system my BD50 to BD25 times decreased by a very noticeable amount of time.
And I did not see any kind of quality loss between the original BD50 and BD25 on my 46" 1080p LED TV.
And he is talking about compressing a BD50 to a BD25, not converting to another format!
Although the 520 is not anywhere near a high powered current vid card.....
It only has 48 cuda cores where each of my 2 - GTX560 cards has 336 cuda cores for a total of 672 cuda cores.
If I am wrong and totally clueless and I am not seeing what I am seeing, please school me and set me right.......
Or should I not believe my lying eye's ?Last edited by Noahtuck; 22nd May 2012 at 22:39.

BDRB has support for DgDecNv for decoding the source video:
http://www.digital-digest.com/software/BD_Rebuilder_history.html
It should run at a little faster when using DgDecNV. DgDecNv only works with Nvidia cards. I believe BDRB only uses the CPU (x264) for encoding. -
