  1. Today I installed Roxio 2012 and my current version of DVDFab 8 Qt will not start/run? I uninstalled Roxio and DVDFab will not start still? Looks like these two products do not work together and Roxio takes total control and stops DVDFab from running. Does anyone have any tips on how to resolve this issuer?

    Many thanks

Roxio doesn't play nicely with a lot of products, but your post is the first I've heard about it having issues with DVDFab. I've had a pretty negative opinion of Roxio for a long time. Why are you using it? I am asking because maybe there is another program you don't know about that you could use instead if we knew why you want Roxio in the first place. We rag on Nero a lot here, but Nero has basically the same functionality and it should be OK with DVDFab.

  5. I need that program for making copies of movies for Tivo and its the only software that supports the Tivo format and burns dvd's for them.

I have a rarely-used program(forget which one) that when I start it...Roxio tries to install itself. I do have one tiny portion of an old version of Roxio EZCD installed on my system(the CD cover creation portion).....Roxio is a strange beast.
Maybe install one of the programs in one of those SandBox type of things?

Have you checked to see if a restore point is available? Just restore to a time before you installed Roxio.

When you said you tried it "with no luck", does that mean the restore itself failed, or it did restore
    but the problem still exists?

It's possible that the Roxio uninstall left a driver or similar behind. There is a clean tool from the Roxio site.
    Did you try it?

There was an uninstaller called RoxioZap at one time too.....it also came from Roxio itself.

A couple more ideas that might be worth a try:

There have been "portable" versions of Fab that don't involve the Win Registry or shared DLLs. These may not be sanctioned by the Fab developers (?), but if you happen to have a product license anyway, why be concerned about that ? Such a version might possibly work, despite Roxio. (Or not.)

If you have or use more than one computer (and one is never enough !), let one have Roxio, and another one Fab + ImgBurn or some other Roxio alternative.

Roxio Creator 12 is a massive suite, similar to the full Nero package. Roxio used to have a thing
called DirectCD; this was their drag and drop (packet writing) program, similar to Nero's inCD.
I read somewhere that the drag and drop component may interfere with FAB, although saying that,
this was an old post - I don't even know if the current version has such a component.

From what I recall, both of those packet writing modules could be trouble a'plenty, conflicting with a number of things.

  14. Having similar problem with other software, it is possible that Roxio left behind a dll file that will not let Dvdfab run. After un-installing both programs, try running CCleaner and see if it will remove some of the left-over files.
