I have worked on films with the canon xha1s and know that I like it. The only problem I had with it was the wide angle lens did not fit perfectly and there were vignettes at certain zoom settings.

I am looking to buy a new camera, I can get any of the 3 with negligble price differences. I know the other 2 cameras are similar, and would like to know how they are with a wide angle lens attached?

depends on the lens/mount not the cam.

we had the lens recommended by canon, so I'm guessing that was the best fit for it, and that camera will always have that problem?

Screw on wide adapters are always inferior to a true wide lens. A true wide lens needs more glass (higher diameter and more cost) which makes the camcorder larger. Pro cams use larger sensors which demand even larger glass in front.

Consumers have been clear they want small size even if that means quality compromise. This mostly translates to tunnel vision lenses and poor low light performance.
