I have att uverse cable tv. I had direct tv satellite and had the dvd recorder hooked up and working. I cant figure it out with the cable att dvr. Before, the direct tv played on input 2. When I had the recorder on it played on input 2 and input 1. The recorder was hooked to input 1 so I could watch tv and record on input 1 with the recorder on. Now the tv plays on channel 3, not an input, it goes into the tv with a cable cord instead of the av like the direct tv dvr. I have an older style tv, not a flat screen. I have extra av cables and an av splitter or selector switch if that would help. The recorder has one av input and one av output, and like I said I do not have the hdmi option on my tv. I have no technical skills so I have just tried hooking it up all kinds of ways and I just cannot get it to work. Anyone know how to fix this or have any ideas? Thank you!

Just hook up the recorder to the AV out on the cable box, the TV will still play on channel 3 and the recorder will only be able to record what you're watching, like before. To be able to watch the recorder, plug the AV out from the recorder to the TV AV in (1 or 2), then select that AV on the TV.
