I need a microphone that will attach to my Kodak play touch video camera so that I can record student dramatic performances from 10 - 20 feet away. The camera itself picks up so little of the audio. Suggestions welcome![]()

This link seems to describe a situation similar to your own, and what the possible solution would be:

Do a search on "parabolic microphones" and "shotgun microphones" to find numerous options that will probably fit your price range. -
Does your camera have a mic input?...if the input is for a stereo (or mono) miniplug, youŽll need an adapter if youŽre planning to use one of the microphones already suggested. I have a Beachtek one for my miniDV camera and am very happy with it (altough other companies make similar products) http://www.beachtek.com/
Does your camera have a headphone jack so you can monitor your incoming audio?
