I just backed up my first Bluray (contagion) which I bought, Ripped to hard drive with DvdFab which it came to 20.0GB, So there was no shrinking or reencoding at all, Burnt with Imgburn which said succesfully, But it will not play in my PS3 but on my PC it will play the previews but then when it comes to the main movie I push play and nothing happens.

20 GB for a movie only rip on BluRay sounds awfully small to me, but I think I know what your problem is and that's not it.
Contagion is copy protected by Cinavia. You will NEVER get the PS3 to play such copies. Surprise surprise (not really - I'm being sarcastic) - looks like PowerDVD obeys Cinavia's directives too. -
in terms of a software BR player...that's easy...PotPlayer does it all...very easily. You might wanna try anydvd and re-rip that to see if you have any luck..or....take the ripped files on the hdd and redo them with bd rebuilder to an mkv...that would work

No ripper can remove cinavia, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinavia and http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=48789.

The best commercial BluRay player is Total Media Theater. Anything else is just throwing your money in the toilet. It's the last consumer friendly BluRay playing software.
Some BluRay players NOT made by Sony do not support Cinavia and will ignore it as long as you don't update the firmware. They'll play the backups fine. And some software players as best I can tell do not obey it either. I gave you a hint about that one. -
Baldrick, Just got done reading the articles from the sites you suggested, Great articles, Good information, Thanks! Looks like alot of people are going to be worried about whether they will be able to play their backed up copies they made of Movies they own and they have very good reason to be worried, People invest their hard earned money on DVDS and Equipment just to have the Big money hungry companys screw them, I guess that's their way of saying thanks people for making us rich.

Cinavia doesn't stop playback of video,it mutes the audio after a predetermined time, usually 20 minutes and displays a logo stating that the audio is muted due to cinavia detecting a copy.
Cinavia doesn't get picked up when playing dts through an amp/receiver that can decode dts.I think, therefore i am a hamster. -
Yeah, the makers of DVDFab claim they have the solution to defeat Cinavia: Use DVDFab to create a "protected backup" so the Cinavia-enabled player will see it as a trusted source. Supposedly current versions of Fab and Passkey will detect Cinavia and prompt you to make a protected backup. Take note, they say they found a way to defeat Cinavia, but cannot remove it...yet.

I dunno, I don't have any of the movies listed as having Cinavia, nor do my players have it enabled. (Never will either, I don't need to update firmware if I only play backups).Pull! Bang! Darn! -
fritzi93, Thanks for email on the fab site, Great information. But I didn't see the movie Contagion listed as cinavia protected, And according to the responses here about playing cinavia protected movies none of the sound like the problem I'm having, I just can't get the movie to play but the previews play find, I'm going to try a different player on my PC and see what happens.

Ok! I took moontrash's advise and tried Potplayer and the movie worked perfect so thanks! But I will try Total Media Theatre also. Oh I'm playing the movie on a Bluray disk, not hard drive.

Ok! After playing around I found out what I was doing wrong, now I got Contagion to play with Powerdvd 11 and with Total Media Theatre 5 which I borrowed from a friend, Both played Bluray disk great, And they also both played from hard drive, I just can't play them with my PS3.
