I need an easy way to play sounds from my PC over the microphone line. Like, say I wanted to prerecord a voice message on my computer, call someone via VoiP, and play the prerecorded message. That's what I'm looking for. Any advice?

You need to use the headphone jack or the stereo speaker jack (if there is one) to get stereo audio output from a computer. The microphone line is only for incoming audio.

The easiest way to do that is play your recorded message with the mike open and pointed at the speaker.

IF it's VOIP, it ought to have facilities for allowing soundfile insertion. Then would be no need to leave the PC or the digital realm.

    What equipment do you have?
