I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere before, but I searched the forums and couldn't find an answer.
I recently got a 60" HDTV and got a a DVR from the cable company. Since I want to be able to archive some of the material I record I've been reading up on How to do that and the equipment I'll need.
Then I run into some commentary on upscalers. Someone was talking about how they have an upscaler that allows them to view their old videotapes and laserdiscs at 720P and it looks pretty good. Now the laserdisc aspect doesn't really surprise me much, but that this person claimed the same for VHS surprised me.
Does anyone else know of this? Also, if you can view it on the screen, why couldn't you capture it?
Hope I've made myself understood.
Thanks.
