What files can PS3 play

Is there a lits of files that a PS3 can play... I want to get a 2 tb external usb hard drive and put my movies on it.... Will it play .iso and .mkv? Thanks

neworldman - Unless you're a masochist you really need to get a streaming media player of some type for what you propose. Western Digital and others make suitable players. Trying to get the PS3 and Xbox to act as media players is like trying to get a square peg into a round hole.

yes & yes IF you use an external Stream(PS3 MEDIA SERVER or sim) stream from your PC.
But as from a usb Hard Drive, Flash Drive DvDr no it cant

To play WMV format files, you must go to (Settings) > (System Settings) and set [Enable WMA Playback].
