  1. Sorry if this already exists, but I was wondering if this site could have a thread about video cables. People can ask questions about what video cable is better and if its worth buying this rather than that etc.

Also, people can make diy guides on how to build custom video cables.. If you break a composite cable, you can then refer to the guide on how to repair or build it out of other cables etc...

Is it possible? Why I bought this idea up was because I didnt have a ps2 composite cable and my tv (a really crappy rca crt) had a composite only port. The ps2 cable I have is a component, so I wanted to find out if I can connect it and if it would work or not. It did work, but its only black and white.

I dont have to keeping searching for other sites.. Videohelp has damn good info.

Thanks for all of your help.

  2. Component carries the horizontal and vertical sync signals on the the luma (Y) pin. If you connect that to the composite input of a TV you will get B/W (greyscale) video.

There was a time when I would construct/repair my own cables. I don't bother any more as they are so cheap now and I've accumulated a large collection of various cables over the years.

If you do want to create custom cables you can get the components at electronic parts stores. Then it's just a matter of stripping the wires correctly and soldering on the connectors.
