Ok I've had playon free edition for a little while now. I use it for streaming flv videos that tversity won't do.

I have also recently signed up for netflix and liked it so much I wanted the same interface for hulu. But I don't want to pay 10.00 a month for hulu plus. So I decided to buy playon premium for 40.00 for the year instead. It works very well.

What I do need to know is how to watch shows off of cbs.coms library in full screen (well at least 4:3 full screen on my hdtv).

I have tried it on my ps3 and xbox 360 and both show it in a window. Neither will show full screen. I have yet to try my WII with it but since its wifi only not lan I don't think the video quality would be very good (fyi I'm looking to watch sd material from cbs.com so it doesn't have to be fabulous but stutter free is important).

I tried the display mode options with the ps3 and 360 but I couldn't stretch it to fill the screen or even get to normal 4:3 proportions. The maddening thing is hulu and other streaming channels through playon seem to be just fine normal 4:3 or widescreen.

Am I missing something? Is there a setting on playons server software to correct this?

FYI for those who don't know about it its at www.playon.com

First sorry this reply is so late, I just came across it and installed Playon yesterday.

This program is amazing, this is just what I had been looking for. The ability to play hulu (with no hulu plus account) and other internet shows on tv is great. I have wanted this ability for sometime now. I was thinking about building my own HTPC and this program will save me so much time and money.

Anyway you may have this working by now. And I see you tried this, but the way I was able to watch cbs.com on xbox 360 in full screen (4:3) mode is to adjust the display mode to 'full screen' on the xbox 360 play bar. What version are you running? I am running 3.4.25.2572 with Xbox 360 and latest updates. So, it is possible to display the picture in the manner you want.

@tearren - I have dropped the premium version. I have actually stopped streaming mostly. I just use my pc thats hooked up to my hdtv -the same tv that my ps3 and xbox 360 are hooked up to so its sort of redundant in my case.

It looks like I did try that display mode you mentioned. Perhaps there have been improvements in both playon and the web services listed as well as a chance the xbox and ps3 have had slight tweaks in how it handles streaming signals.

I'm glad you got what you were looking for though Tearren.

I can understand, sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. I don't actually watch a lot of shows, but when I do want to watch something and I missed the broadcast, I want to watch it on tv and not on a computer.

I came across today what you were talking about with a show shown in a box. I was watching an older program (4:3) on the wii and it was in a box. I tried to zoom in with the +, like another show that zooming worked for, but it was completely unresponsive. I then tried the display mode on the play bar and it made the picture bigger but was still in a box. I then tried the same program on the Xbox expecting the same thing, but when I switched display modes it made it full screen. So, it would seem there are still some issues to work out.

Even though it didn't workout for you man, I do appreciate your suggestion/recommendation of the program. Thanks!

@tearren - glad it works some of the time.

I have nothing against the program or streaming in general. Its just that I have other options available to me.
