  1. i have a few questions actually one of them concern ntsc and pal what other then the resolution is the diffrence between the two and which is better? Also if you rip a ntsc dvd should you encode your mpg with a ntsc template using tmpgnec? Ok now I have another question When your setting your settings in tmpgnec and your setting your source aspect ratio and if you the source is a 2.35:1 what would you set the source at? i have many more questions but this is it for now thanks everyone for all your help

    NTSC= video format used in North America and Japan
    PAL/SEACAM=video format(s) used elsewhere

    I am assuming from the style of your writing that you live in the US. . so use NTSC. While some players and TV's can handle both, I don't see any sense in creating discs in a different format than the one that is used where you live (I've made both and don't see any benefit to using PAL over NTSC). NTSC DVD's should therefore be ripped as NTSC.

    Source aspect ratio: 1:1 (VGA). Also use Full Screen (keep aspect ratio); this will keep the video in the same aspect as the source, which means that on your TV, your final VCD will have black bars with widescreen sources and full-screen video with 4:3 sources, etc.
