ok so I was recording a video of my kid being born on my phone and the stupid thing decided to freeze toward the end of it, now im left with a 250mb 3gp video file that cant be played on anything.
So far what i have done is took the file split it with megasplitter into 500 512kb sized pieces, recorded another video with the same exact settings and the same length give or take 1 second, split that video into 501 512kb sized pieces, replaced the first and last 4 pieces from the corrupt file with good ones attempting to pretty much take a good videos header and footer and put the crap videos guts in it.
so far that has only gotten me as far as my programs to recognize the file...before i would get unknown file type errors or crashes in my players and encoders.
after that i was finally able to convert the file to avi format so i could run it in virtualdub but basically after 36 hours of work all i have is a 250mb video file with what seems like 2 frames of video...i get the see the first frame which is the frame from the good file and the last frame which is also a frame from the good video...its like all the pieces from the corrupt file are blank or something.
what can i do? cause my phone didnt create a 250mb file of no video...i know its there i just cant get it to show up.
im out of ideas![]()

do you know of a forum with people that have a more expert knowledge base of video editing? cause i understand this is a little more complicated than "how to convert mkv to avi or how to upload screen shots"

LOL. If you needed help with editing you would already have it. I don't know of a website that specializes in helping people recover corrupted cell phone video recordings. That is what you need help with.
You could try avsforum.com, but you may not get an answer there either. There is a fair amount of overlap in the membership. Be sure to pay close attention to the forum rules before posting. -
Ill give them a try thanks, and i cant remember the last time i stopped to read any forums rules or any terms & conditions....can you? lol
