  1. Hey guys, I'm having an issue with VudMod for quite awhile now. I've been getting this message everytime I try to encode an video saying "thread has not cycled for 10 seconds -- possible livelock". I've been having this issue for months. I've been told that it happens when multitasking occurs, but I've tried it even without multitasking and it still occurs. I am using VDubMod 1.3. If anyone can help please do

it's an old program and you are using an ancient version at that. it may not work with win7.

Why not just upgrade then see what happens.
There are no problems - only chances to excel.

  6. Or use VirtualDub which is still being maintained and has a lot more features. I only use virtualdubmod when I need to multiplex multiple audio tracks into an AVI file -- very rarely. But I use VirtualDub every day.

  7. Yepp, even using the latest VDubMod still give's the same livelock problem. Could it have something to do with the script? I'm using heavy filters to remove grain. What I don't understand though is that 2 days ago the script was working just fine when I created it. Any suggestions?

  8. When it livelocks, the video was completed and encoded all the way to the end, wasn't it? If so, then there's no problem. It happens to me from time to time but I don't worry about it.

  9. Nope, my livelock starts at the very beginning of a vidoeo and never goes away. I can't even encode a 3second clip DX

  10. What process priority are you running at? Try setting the Dub priority to Idle, Options -> Preferences -> Main -> Dub Defaults -> Process Priority -> Idle. If it's already at Idle try some of the others. Do not use anything higher than Normal. Doing so will not make your encoding any faster.

Try changing the Video Compression Threads. Options -> Preferences ->Threading... try both 0 and 1.

Try turning off DirectX. Options -> Preferences -> Display -> Use DirectX For Display Panes.

Try the latest Virtualdub (1.9), not VirtualdubMOD (1.5).

If you really need the mods, try VirtualDub Patch http://tongari.at/ which is based on 1.78

If you're using its script editor, AvsPmod is a lot more powerful for that.

I often get a livelock at the end of playing a script, seems the audio processing times out sometimes.
You can turn off audio in the script and process it separately if that's the problem.
(You can comment out just about everything except for Trims when doing the audio,)
