Last night I was editing and premier stopped playing the video, it froze on the frame that was selected and would only update when you click the program monitor, I thought that it might be a problem with the source files so I re-encode them into mp4's with the adobe media encoder but it didn't work, other projects still work but any new ones don't.

weird. i had a similar problem with pp5.5 yesterday, it wouldn't accept any input on the timeline even after indexing and conforming them. i tried all the reset functions in options but nothing helped. i ended up uninstalling pp5.5 along with all it's settings, and then re-installing it and it's update. it's working again.

Yeh, I just re-installed the whole CS suite again and I still didn't work, tried re-installing the Video drivers didn't work, no files I had seemed to work, so I tried re-encoding them into Microsoft AVI and that worked! I didn't think it was a problem with the source files because It happened while I was editing, old projects still worked and any file imported into a new project didn't work. Any one know why this would of happened?

maybe you didn't check the box at the bottom of the un-install program to also delete all the program settings?

I seem to have fixed it!
I went to "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\" and renamed the folder "5.5" to "5.5.old", it seems to work fine now!
