No, not a horror story.
My HD-PVR died a couple days ago, suddenly pass-through no longer worked and I got a Windows notification about a malfunctioning USB device. Checked the cabling, then tried it on another PC. No luck.
I couldn't find my receipt, although I suspected it was out of warranty. So I went to NewEgg and logged into my account history and found out I purchased it on 7/24/2009. Then got on the Hauppauge website and checked warranty terms. Yep, two months past the two-year warranty.
The Hauppauge site offers repair services for a $35 minimum charge, plus shipping and parts, so I shot them an email. Imagine my surprise when I received the answer from jfox at Hauppauge that they would honor the warranty anyway!
I'm dumbfounded. Boxed it up and mailed it this afternoon. Just thought I'd let you know what kind of company Hauppauge is.
