I make 30 seconds TV ads for concert events. I currently use Premire Elements 4 but they offer nice opening scenes like iMovie. I currently use XP on my MacBook Pro notebook. Can you suggest other sotfware for making tv commercials. I prefer a program that has layers so I can use multiple graphics and texts in the same spot on the timeline. Here's a few of my ad I've made http://youtu.be/olOzgOwtCoo http://youtu.be/kKA_LTKgBdc

Hi and Welcome
I currently use Premiere Pro CS4 for my 30 second spot edits. I hear Vegas is excellent, too.

I also use Avid Studio. This is not to be confused with Pinnacle Studio. Costs around $170.00. Has some quirks but gets the job done for me. I don't use it for ultra serious projects though.

It says "Coming Soon... Avid Studio" on their website. So what does that mean?

I'm not sure where you saw "Coming Sone" but here the link I used. http://www.avid.com/US/products/avid-studio -
Vegas Studio is far cheaper, and is the equivelent to Premiere Elements - i.e. a cut down version of a much more complex tool. You are looking at Vegas Pro at that price.
Just looked at the your first sample. So you aren't looking for professional output, just lots of cheesy transitions and a 2 am infommercial feel ?
Don't worry so much about all the layers, just work on getting something polished and professional from what you have before you jump into tools that you aren't ready to use.Last edited by guns1inger; 11th Sep 2011 at 22:51.

This IS professional in that venue. That's "The South".
Actually, I saw one of these type shows in Vegas about 10 years ago, it was Earth, Wind, and Fire, and there wasn't much left of the band except the bass player, and Philip Bailey who still has that great falsetto voice he's famous for. Great concert.Last edited by budwzr; 11th Sep 2011 at 23:40.

Most of the legends left are good friends of mines. For my 29th Radio Anniversary we're having "Atlantic Star, The Dramatics, Slave, Blue Magic, The 5 Stairsteps and James D-Train Williams. Going to be nice. www.mauricewatts.com/29anv -

Yeah, I like that layout. Nobody can really read it on TV, but it looks exciting, and the background makes it pop. You might want to put some glint here and there to give it some bling-bling.
I remember "Side Show". Sad, but a good song.
When you mention "layers", you mean compositing tracks right? Lower Thirds, Motion Graphics, that sort of thing? Like Guns1inger said, Sony Vegas has 2 or 3 entry-level versions that are pretty cheap, you might check them out.Last edited by budwzr; 12th Sep 2011 at 10:53.
