Hopefully someone might be able to help me out, because this is driving me crazy and I am unsure if this is a setting/software/expectation issue.....

Could someone 'ESTIMATE' how long a simple Video Transcode would take using Ripbot264, with the following info if possible please ?

    - 7.5GB MKV (AVC/AC3) 9,000kbps Video Bitrate.
    - Video ONLY, transcode to 4095 kbps, Audio Track copy only.
    - RipBot264 (latest), 2-pass.
    - Dual CPU Xeon X5550 Quad Core (16 threads, essentially a dual i7 920), 24GB DDR3, 4x 15k SAS RAID0 Workspace, 3x SSD Final destination drive.
    - Win7 x64, Java 32 & 64 etc (all RipBot requirements met with 32 & 64bit versions).

I am simply trying desperately to SHRINK a few movies that do not require awesome bitrates for video.

With the above situation, I get 45+ fps on the 1st pass, then approx 30 fps on the second pass equalling 3hrs approx total.

Perhaps my expectations for my new machine are a bit high, but I honestly expected better performance when all 16 threads are PEG'd at 99-100% constantly......

    Thanks in advance,
    Allan

    1080p?

I just tried encode with same settings, 4000kbps, High 4.0 HD progressive, 1080p, my CPU: i7 920.

    36fps first pass
    16fps second pass
    CPU usage: 50%.

    Yes, 1080p....

By your results, it looks as though I am pretty much right where I should be, perhaps a tweak here or there might get me an additional 5-10% performance increase, but atleast I know that it is approx where it should be.

    thanks for the info.
