Clearly either you have the terminology confused, or no nothing of the processes of which you speak.

When ripping you do not pick a target size or resolution, ripping is the process of copying the DVD to your hard drive nothing else. When you convert your ripped DVD you can then chose a target file size and resolution.

Take a look at DVDFab HD Decrypter it's a god ripper and has a free version. For converting movies take a look at Handbrake or Ripbot264. I don't think there are any tools that allow you to joying files from different DVDs as you convert. This will have to be done after the fact or if your familial with avisynth you can script the file you need then convert your script to desired format.

You first have to rip them, before you can join them..

Actually The makers of DVDFab are the ones confusing the issue with the word "rip"....them and 90% of the people that create torrents.

  5. Sadly videohelp is not doing us a favor by describing the DVD Ripping Forum this way:

    Forum: DVD Ripping
Everything about DVD backup and ripping, copying, decoding, encoding, reauthoring and burning
They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety.
