  1. Hi everyone.

Has anyone ever made a CD-R VCD that plays on a JVC XV-FA95GD or a JVC XV-FA90BK. I've made a lot of coasters using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum running on Windows XP. The DVD player thinks that the VCD is an MP3 CD-R. The DVD player has no problem playing CD-R MP3 and the manual says that it will play VCD. I have already checked the DVD Player Compatibility List.

If you have been succesfull or have any ideas, please let me know what software you used to author the VCD and what brand CD-R you used.

    Thanks.

  2. I have the JVC XV-FA75GD and it plays anything I can throw at it !!!
I'm almost positive the 75 is the same as the 95 with the exception that the 95 is a multiple disc player. Right?

Maybe look into how identical the two models are....
...a good place to call is Crutchfield www.crutchfield.com , their employees know A LOT about the DVD players they sell !!

    Anyway....
I have had no problems playing VCDs, SVCDs, MP3 CDs and these were all on CDRs. Never tried a CDRW in my DVD player....so don't know about that.

For burning, I use NERO (VCD and SVCD) and Fireburner (ISO and BIN/CUE).
For CDRs, I use Maxell and TDK.

In my opinion, your problem is with Roxio...try using NERO. That is the best software for burning VCDs and SVCDs. You can find a demo at www.ahead.de

VCDs and SVCDs have a whole bunch of header info stored in the first data track of the (S)VCD that tells the DVD player what kind of video is on the tracks to follow. If the DVD player sees a data track as the first track and it can't recognize it as a VCD or SVCD then the DVD player probably thinks it's a MP3 CD since that's the only other data track that it reads. So....I think Roxio is making an invalid (S)VCD first data track.
    Just my opinion.

    Hope it helps,

  3. Thanks, I think you are correct. I went to the Roxio Knowledge Base and they admit that their Easy CD Creator Platinum Version 5.02x has problems making VCDs and Needs to be updated to 5.1.

    Thanks Again!
