  1. Hey everyone, I'm chopping up an M4V file which has chapters, into smaller AVIs using the chapter marks as references. Was compressing with Xvid. Also deinterlacing.
First problem is the chapter marks which I use as a guide in VLC playback, don't seem to be in synch with the ones that I've set up in VD. basically got the codes from VLC , entered them in VD but somehow theyre out of sync. Why is that?
Second problem is when I save to Avi the audio is out of sync, well actually the video is, the audio seems to be where it should but the video starts quite a few seconds after...is that the playback speed or it actually saves the AVI like that?
Please help, Ive got about 28 AVIs to sort out!
    Thanks, Kiki.

What is the m4v details? Video and audio codec? WHat plugin are you using to open m4v in virtualdub?

You could also try cut and convert with avidemux.

  3. M4V is an apple output that my video has just arrived in (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M4V) , I'm using a PC to edit it. I had to install quick time plug in in VD to open it, still being out of sync but I thought it's a layback problem...I'm starting to think it's not and VD just cant handle Mac outputs? Does AVIDemux read chapter marks?
    Thanks

I was thinking of the video and audio codecs in the m4v. Use for example mediainfo to identify it.

  5. The video is Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) at Frame rate: 29.970029

The audio is Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a) at Sample rate: 48000 Hz

could it be the frame rate of the video? that is not 25?
