Been thinking of getting myself one of those Lovefilm subscription, you get dvd rentals sent your way and instant movie streaming on computer plus some other devices and other such things.
If you guys use Lovefilm to stream and watch movies and tv shows, is it really worth getting a Lovefilm subscription?
One other thing I was wondering about, though might be a bit far-fetched, is if it would also be possible to download or save instant streaming movies from Lovefilm. Did any of you guys who use Lovefilm manage to download Lovefilm streams?
Thanks for the help.

A netflix wannabe from the UK? If they also use Silverlight you may have problems copying their films and it may be illegal.

IDK
, suppose they are similar to Netflix but not as popular as them. You get DVD, Blu-ray & Games Rental plus instant online movie streaming, depending on what subscription you choose.
Games rentals don't look that interesting to me, but I guess movie streaming and maybe a couple of DVD rentals might be worth it.
Bummer, suspected they might have some security that would not let you download streaming movies from Lovefilm. -
LOvefilm is exactly the Euro analogue to Netflix.
It is both illegal and impossible to keep the streamed films.
I used their DVD service in the past and liked it.Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons. -

While it may be illegal to keep the streamed films, don't you think saying it's "impossible" is a little far fetched? I've yet to hear of ANY streaming service that couldn't be recorded by some program, but it almost always requires a commercial recorder rather than a free one to do it with services like this. However, if you'd care to offer some evidence that it's truly impossible to record those streams with any existing streaming media recorder, I'd be interested to know about it.

Lovefilm is an Amazon subsidiary. According to Wikipedia they only have about 3500 films available for streaming. That's about 1/10 of what Netflix has.

Only so few movies for online streaming? Hm thought saw mentioned round there that they have over 70,000 titles, but now that I come to think of it probably most if them are dvd rentals or something like this.
@ jagabo Dunno what to say, I'd like to catch up with some movies cause I haven't had that much time till now for this. Think for Lovefilm the cheapest subscriptions only give you limited instant movie streaming and dvd rentals, you got a good deal since you say you get two hours instant streaming a day. -

LoveFilm TOS says you can't copy the films.
"you will not, and will not encourage or assist any other person to, copy, reproduce, lend, rent, broadcast, distribute or transmit any Film;" -

If you don't mind re-encoding there are several free programs that can record the video directly off the screen. VirtualDub has a built in screen recording module. There are also video capture filters that will allow any capture program to record what's on the screen, like UScreenCapture.

Agreed, if you don't mind a bit of re-encoding and since I suppose there might not be a way to download movie streams from lovefilm anyhow because of the protection they might have on them, recording Lovefilm movies might just be a good solution.
There's also some audials software program, never actually used it to record movies or tv shows from Lovefilm cause I don't have any subscription for this one but as far as I read it should do the job as well.
Dunno, guess it's worth a shot. -
I subscribe to LoveFilm - whilst the disc rental service is ok, the streaming is utter shite. The quality is very poor - it is simply unwatchable on my TV & laptop (and I have a 50Mb connection), but not so bad on my smartphone. Guess the small screen hides the pretty poor resolution they choose to stream at....

Guess it doesn't bother me the re-encoding part, as long as it gets the job done.
Well thank you for suggesting these screen recorder programs, suppose if they work to record Lovefilm instant streams they're better than nothing.
Though I was a bit thrown off by finding out their streaming movies quality is not that good.
